The end of the twentieth century was characterized by a constantly accelerating
lifestyles. The beginning of the 1900s had started in much the same way, in fact,
with the Futurist movement supported by Balla, Depero and Marinetti, who praised
speed and technology as absolute virtues. Yet, speed and haste do not always prove
positive qualities and Italians are rediscovering the virtues of slowness, at least
when it comes to cuisine. Some define this idea as ‘slow food’, placing it in juxtaposition
with the concept of ‘fast-food’ generated in the United States. Even coffee breaks
improve, when coffee is savored slowly, transforming this sensorial experience into
a moment of joy and quasi-spiritual pleasure. The nymph that represents the soul
of coffee invites us to rediscover these precious values in a cup of Venturato espresso.
